Cement retarders are used to increase the thickening time of cement slurries to enable proper placement.
The need for cement retardation increases with depth due to the greater time required to complete the cementing operation and the effect of increased temperature on the cement-setting process.
Cement retarders is used for higher temperature which will provide better results.
Applications
- It helps cement slurry to be pumpable at much higher temperature
- It allows the cement slurry possible to pump to the target zones.
- It retards the fast setting up of cement and hence allow the sufficient time for operation during well cementing
